CONTINUING THE WESTMONT JOURNEY

Welcome back and Happy New Year to all!  I trust the holiday break provided time for family, festivities and traditions.  Memories of these days are precious and unique.   Can you believe we are entering the 2020 decade?   As a community, we have so much to be thankful for already and so much to look forward to this year.

The announcement made in December by our Board of Trustees naming our new head of school truly warmed my heart.  I am so pleased to pass the baton on to such a qualified and dedicated supporter of Westmont.  I know Monica will carry that baton with pride ensuring a continuation of the excellent educational foundational work we already do.  Her appointment to our beloved school left everyone with feelings of confidence and comfort.  My conversations with many of you solidified the knowledge that the future for Westmont is bright.

The second half of the year brings great anticipation for what else is possible for our students and school.   We look forward to more of the ‘giant’ steps achieved in the first half of the year.  Our students’ growth afforded them an independence and self-assuredness that contributed to ongoing motivation, school spirit, and a love of learning on their parts.  Separation tears for our littlest students subsided, often to be replaced by new tears wanting to stay longer. Our Early Childhood students reveled in their status of being a first or second-year student, aspiring to ‘big’ works and creating a new community of friends. Our Kindergartners learned to live up to their leadership expectations, showing pride in their abilities to help their younger friends and be looked up to as role models.

As we enter this amazing 55th year of developing capable people, we are also launching our in-house ‘20-‘21 enrollment. Yes, it is that time already.  Our continued partnership in your children’s education is of great importance, and you will receive re-enrollment paperwork via DocuSign soon.  Once again, we are pleased to offer an early registration incentive approved by our Board of Trustees.

We invite you to observe any of our classes in preparation for future decisions and extend an invitation to our Kindergarten Information Session on January 11.  Our Kindergarten teachers, current and alumni families along with our new Head of School will discuss the importance and value of this keystone year.

The legacy continues, and we are delighted you are part of it.

Warm regards,

Colette
